Daniel Mendoza is a fashion photographer based in Austin, Texas. He’s an undergraduate at St. Edward’s University, studying Photography & Media Arts with a concentration in Catholic Studies. His work spans both analog and digital portraiture, exploring ways to bridge storytelling with fashion photography.

With his appreciation for physical media, Mendoza delves beyond digital content, utilizing his expertise in bookbinding. His fascination with how sequence, text, and direction can compose a newfound meaning has made him dedicated to photography books. His works, Petals of Armor and Untitled Series, have been exhibited in the 2024 and 2025 Student Juried Exhibitions.

Mendoza’s work is introspective, often exploring facets of his identity, experiences, and artistry. Photography is sometimes his only outlet for expression, turning tribulations into inspiration. He values hearing how viewers connect with his work. His work becomes a safe space for individuals to let their guard down and to reflect. Other selections of his work, such as Petals of Armor, fuse both his studies to bring up important questions that resonate with our political climate today, exploring themes of theology, solidarity, and lamentation.

Mendoza’s aspirations center on compelling storytelling within the fashion industry. He is not subject to just a fashion photographer but also a director. Mendoza utilities photography books as a means to create an immersive world and a space to connect with others.
