Daniel Mendoza is a fashion photographer based in Austin, Texas. Mendoza is an undergraduate at St. Edward’s University, studying Photography & Media Arts with a minor in Catholic Studies. His work spans from analog to digital portraiture, exploring ways to bridge storytelling with fashion photography.
With his appreciation for physical media, Mendoza delves beyond digital content, utilizing his expertise in bookbinding. His fascination with sequence, type, and direction composed a newfound love and dedication towards photography books. His works, Petals of Armor and Untitled Series, have been exhibited in the 2024 and 2025 Student Juried Exhibitions.
Mendoza’s work is introspective, often exploring facets of his identity, experiences, and artistry. Often utilizing photography as an outlet for expression, turning tribulations into inspiration. Mendoza’s work becomes a safe space for individuals to let their guard down and to reflect inward. Other selections of his work, such as Petals of Armor and Bells of Lament, fuse both his studies to bring up contemporary theological discussions, often exploring themes of solidarity and lamentation.
Mendoza’s aspirations focuses on creating compelling storytelling within the fashion industry. Mendoza is not subject to just a fashion photographer, but also a director. Mendoza utilizes photography books as a means to create an immersive world and a space to connect with viewers.
